FYP done!!

Finally, my final year project is done!! :)

Degree life is almost ending, all that are left are two more assignments and two exam papers. Half a month more and college's over!!

We have to pass up 3 hard-cover copies of the same report!

BTW, what do you guys think of an E&E engineering degree student studying for a computing related master's degree? I'm thinking it'll be good to gain another set of skills other than what i studied for my degree. But people say getting a master's degree is about specialization. In other words, it's suppose to go 'deeper' into a specialized field, rather than going 'wider' and learn more of other stuff.

So what is your opinion? Would it be a good thing to do? Or would it be just a waste of time...

Long time no write

Hi everyone, it's been quite some time since the last time I posted anything here. It's been so long I think some followers had already removed my blog from their to-follow list.

Back at the end of April, I dislocated my elbow while playing paintball. My elbow was wrapped in POP for one month. Since then I haven't been doing much on this blog. I haven't been playing any paintball also, and will not be returning to the field for quite some time. My elbow is a lot better now, but still unable to lift heavy stuff.

The good news is, I'm going to finish college in 2 months!! :)
My final year project is almost done. It's not the best project, but still, it's almost done!! One less thing to worry about soon...

Oh, and check out the new Penang-Paintball.com. It's got a new look with a new frontpage! Keep in mind that the new site is still under construction, and the forum is not ready to use yet. Leave a comment on what you think of the site's layout.

Field Closed for Thaipusam

The Pulau Tikus area is always jammed and crowded during the Thaipusam festival, especially along the stretch of road leading to the Municipal Park.

IA wants to use the padang as car park for the festival, hence the field will be closed this weekend. Woohoo!! No work this weekend!!

The guy in-charged of the car park requested to use the paintball field for parking too. With everyone busy and getting ready for My-NPL this weekend, I had to go to the field alone early this morning to move the bunkers and open up the netting to let cars in. Then I had rush back to make it in time for my 12 o'clock class. Tiring...

I will not be going to any paintball tournaments this year due to my studies and financial status. All the best to my paintmates who'll be competing in My-NPL. Go Penang!!

FYP, haiz....

Every final year student has to do a final year project. It is suppose to be a fun thing, at least that was what i thought. Who knows the project could cost so much...

A typical hardware-based project could easily cost up to the hundreds. Some suggest that a software based project might be cheaper as we do not need to purchase any expensive parts. The problem is, I'm not very good in programming.

A few classmates of mine found a personal tutor that would help us with the programming, but with a fee involved, which will then make it as expensive as a hardware-based project.

Haiz... I've already stopped all paintball tournaments this year, yet I'm still so in need of cash....

What to do, they say money makes the world go round.

If the notes do not want to be my friend, then I guess I'll have to work super hard to brush up my programming skills on my own...

Back To College Soon

Hohoho... 4 months have finally passed, my internship is finally over!!

Bye bye boring cubicle...

No more waking up at 6:45am every morning...
No more getting stuck in the traffic jam everyday before and after work...
No more sitting in the cubicle looking at the same wallpaper everyday...
No more eating the same dishes in the cafeteria everyday...
No more going to bed early...
And last but not least, no more being restricted to going out only on weekends!!

The new semester is starting next week. This will be my third and final year, and probably the busiest one.

Time to start getting into the mood for academic life!!

Back Pain

Hohoho!! Exam habis liao!!

There are 5 subjects in this semester but we only have to sit for 3 papers cause the other 2 are 100% coursework. You might think that i'm free now and will get to lenggang lenggang in a long holiday. Wrong.

Training for WCA has officially started. After stopping paintball for 3 weeks, and not doing any exercise in that period, paintball suddenly seem to tiring today. Having back pain now...
(Back pain from paintball!?! I am really really not in shape, have to work hard liao...)

All tired from shooting 'people'

But on the bright side, my diving is getting better and better. I used to think too much when diving - the jump, the landing, the arm position, blablabla - but today i dived into the dorito without even thinking of it, and it went smooth, it's becoming more like second nature, WooHoo!!

One more week and i have to go for my internship. Don't know how it will turn out. Lets hope it'll be a nice place, or else i'll have to bear with it for the next 4 months.

Ok, time to end this post and sleep liao, 2mro need to wake up at 6am again for paintball. Gnite.

Notes to self:
  • Get enough sleep. Go to bed earlier if you have to wake up early for training.
  • Some of them still can't hear you on the field. Apparently you're still not loud enough.

P.S. - The photo above is the first pic in this blog that was taken with my new phone! As such i'm uploading the picture in its original size. Click on image to see the ori size!

Assignments and Accident

"Double A..."

There are two weeks left until this sem's final exam. As usual, everyone is busy burning the midnight oil for their assignments this week, literally. For the past couple of days i have been staying up till late doing assignments, the latest was until 6am in the morning!! Miss OhOh was even keat, stayed up until 10am the next day, lol...

Wednesday night i went to Kok's house to do a video clip for our project, later found out that the parts we needed were with James, so we had to drive all the way to the mainland. On the way we got lost somewhere in the highway cause none of us were familiar with the place. We managed to find his place in the end though. James brought us to a so-called famous mamak stall there. According to him, that place was so laku, they only start operating at 2am in the morning, and still can find business!! Don't know where those people come from de, 2am still go mamak stall, nothing to do in the morning de meh?

On the highway on our way back, a speeding black Civic overtook us, then 3 more Civics followed. Apparently 4 street racers were racing. Kok said "race la race la, later bang eh si i will laugh gau gau...". Indeed, one of them kena accident. After we turned a corner, we saw the white Civic (who was in 3rd place when they overtook us) stopped at the side of the road, headlights facing us and surrounded by dust and smoke. We guessed he spun out of control and banged into the divider or something. Kok was LMAO-ing. The other racers all sped off without even stopping to check on their friend! Tsk tsk tsk...

His bonnet and car doors were all smashed in, windows shattered. One of the wheel broke off and was still rolling away from the car as we passed. The driver was ok i guess, can see him still able to move about in the car...

Met with an accident in the middle of the night, and all your friends left the scene, sucks big time. But it's all his fault i guess, racing illegally. Like Kok said, bang eh si will laugh gau gau...

I still have two more assignments to complete, and after that it's exam time. No more paintballing liao for the time being.

WOMO Quickie

So lazy to write these few days, but still wanted to update my blog, so...

Introducing the World Of My Own Quickie!!

Successfully organized the Inti Paintball Club recruitment roadshow last week. I was only expecting to get 20+ students to sign up, but in the end we got an unexpected 80+ names on the list!! But hor, Inti Penang a lot of aeroplanes, only 38 turned up on Saturday for our recruitment game day. But still, this was our largest crowd yet. Here are some pics...

Look at his face, so excited...

Mrs i4

Who is this??

Mr i4

Went to watch Angels & Demons last weekend. Nice movie. Better than Da Vinci Code IMO. I like the LHC and the fact that the movie makes you think, instead of just letting you sit through 2 hours of mindless action.

Religions are so complicated, haiz...

Dead Birdies

Today's class was in the morning only, 8am to 10am. Went back to college at 1:30pm in the afternoon to get lecture notes from Dr. William.

After parking my car at the side (behind ADTP's office), i saw these...

Are they dead birds or dead chickens? They're like the size of my phone only, looked like chickens yet too small to be chickens. Where do they come from? Couldn't be from the canteen's inventory cause the canteen's on the other side of the building. Hmm... weird.

I'm guessing they're experiment materials for the biotech students...

Playing with Freaks Unit

Exam is finally over!! Actually it's already over last Friday, the reason why i'm only posting this now is because i've been busy playing paintball after the exam, from Saturday to Wednesday! 5 days in a row! Hohoho... Hopefully i can score enough to retain my scholarship...

Team X-Pursuit from Penang and team Freaks Unit (click here for the translated page)from Switzerland are going to join forces in the upcoming International Super Seven Championship 2009 (ISSC), which will be held in PJ on the 1st of May. The swiss were here to train for the past few days, and we had to change the field layout from field 1 to field 3 for their training! OMG i tell you, changing layouts can be so so so so tiring, plus you can get super tanned...

Besides changing layouts, we also had to fix the netting cause on Sunday night, there were heavy rain and wind, ripping off the nets and pulling the poles off the ground. How strong was the wind you ask? Imagine the center big spike, with 6 spikes nailing it to the ground, being blown over the approximately-8-meter-high net and out of the field. That was what happened!

ISSC 2009 field 3, view from above...

The games with the Swiss were all wet and muddy, almost like last time when we trained sliding and diving (click here to view previous post), the only difference is it wasn't raining this time.

Other than shooting angmos, there was another incident. I'm not going to write about it cause it's getting late now and i want to go to sleep liao. You can read about it on Meilin's blog here...

You can also read about their adventures in Malaysia here. It's written in a foreign language, German i think. Click on 'Fotos Malaysia' to see the pics they posted, or you can use google translator to read everything...

Notes to self:
  • If not sure what's in front you, don't run up the snake all the way, go up one bunker at a time instead, popping up at various spots.
  • try to keep your head up while diving, you don't want to knock off your mask on the ground.

Frisbee Day

"Touch Down!!"

Went to the old campus for my first game of Ultimate Frisbee! It has been so long since I was at the old campus, so nostalgic nia...

2 hours b4 the game went to eat BBQ Chicken in Gurney. The super big chicken burger made me so full, 2 hours later went for frisbee still feeling ba ba...

FYI, the game is called Ultimate Frisbee. It's not your usual throw-in-the-park kind of frisbee. It's kinda like american football, 'monkey', and netball combined. Hard to explain, go watch the video to get the picture...

Even they have the superman dive...

Being a first-timer, i threw lousily. Almost every one of my throw would miss its target, unlike the others, can even throw in a curved path, 'banana-ball' style!! Fuyoh, didn't know snakeman can also do 'banana' de...

Captain was suppose to come, but he sent me this msg instead...

...so in the end, I was the only paintballer in the game.

Even this little fella wants to join in the game...

Mamee Transformers

Math class today was so sleepy, cannot tahan have to go down buy something to eat. As usual, we bought the cheapest snack you can get in Inti - Mamee Monster!!

In the end got these Transformer stickers... I didn't know the Transformers have already evolved liao, nowadays even robots are into stick-figure runway models, swt...

so many transformers...

...stuck to the back of my notepad...

...Optimus Prime jian fei until become stick figure ki

1mm

My prediction has finally come true!! From 1 inch to 1cm to 1mm!! I may not be the one driving, but i helped out too...

kissing your butt...

stick a ruler to your butt...

OMG... it really is 1mm!!

Markings On The Wall

or rather, postings on the wall....

Went to the UOB room yesterday, saw this posted on the wall.

OMG, we Switchers are now public figures in Inti!!

To Yui - You're famous in Inti liao lo.... or at least among the engineering students. FYI, UOB stands for University of Bradford. The UOB room is for the use of those taking the UOB engineering programme.

To ChoonYann - Jealous leh... Makes you wish you were working that day... :)

The Proximity

For those that have been following my blog, you must have read my previous posts, taken place inside Inti's basement carpark.

The first one was in July, front parking, one inch...

Then there was another just 3 weeks ago, reverse parking, one inch, although not done by me...

But those two are just child's play compared to the next one.....

The ultimate reverse parking, done without reverse sensors!!

In Acronyms

These few days, there are certain matters that keep popping up in my head. Funny thing is, all of them are in acronyms... :)

First, there are the PBs, which are my current priorities. One stands for paintball, and another stands for...< insert your guess here >
(i'm not telling the whole world about my personal life ^u^)

There's the My-NPL, which will be my first major paintball tournament. Tried out the tournament's field 2 over the weekend. With the crazy snakes, this event will sure be an interesting one to watch. We will be travelling to PJ on valentine's day to take part, and perhaps skip Friday's class. Then there's RM, which I need desperately for the tournament. Hopefully I will get enough cash by 14th Feb...

There's also CNY, everyone's favourite event of the year... well at least for those unmarried. With the economic recession, angpows will be a blessing for us single people, and headache for those hitched. Hoho, angpows will probably solve my RM problem. For those of you who are really kind enough to help me out, have some CNY spirit and send me digital angpows by clicking on the 'Donate' button on the right!! Hehe... (I know no one is crazy enough to donate, but I still want to write this... It's my blog, I write whatever I want...^u^)

At college, i keep thinking about SCR. For those who are not in the electronics field, SCR stands for Silicon-Controlled Rectifier. We need to complete 2 experiments on SCRs before CNY, and I'm still gong gong about what they are and their characteristics, ish...

Lastly, there's LPC's new blog!! Hohoho, after so long, she finally started her own blog, a pictureless blog, LOL... With her blur blur and funny and bubbly and sarcastic and shopaholic nature, it'll sure be an interesting read, keep on writing!!

One Inch... Again

Apparently someone is trying to challenge me with the 'one inch' parking, and it was done by in reverse parking!! Sheesh, cheated with reverse sensors... my car doesn't have sensors, ok!
Refer to my previous post here.

Short Short Sem

Short sem really is short. Seems like it was just a while ago that i was preparing for last sem's exam, and now this sem's exam is already over, time really flies (cliche cliche...).

After the Iranian Rambo encounter, i have been 'camping' in the library to do last minute revision. There was too much distraction at home to stay focused and i admit i lack discipline in my studies, unlike someone (you know who you are.... hehe. And thanks for highlighting the 'important' points in my notes for me....).

See... all the important terms are highlighted, so colorful...

So now after 2 days of exam sitting for 2 subjects (told you this was a short sem), i can put throw away my lecture notes and start working towards my goal... cash up to get my own marker!! No no no, i take that back, i shouldn't throw away the notes since they're decorated so beautifully. Should keep them as souvenirs... LOL!

For those who still have yet to complete their exam, good luck to you and don't forget to put in your best effort!!
