Paintballs on the silver screen

Hohoho, 2009 is going to be a good year for paintball, so many new stuff. First there are the new equipments for 2009 (especially the Dye Rotor), and then there's the USPL, now comes this - a paintball motion picture!! The are so many sports out there that are featured in movies - archery, football, bowling, karate, swimming, golf, boxing, etc. So why can't paintball?

I'm not talking about all those paintball montage videos by DerDer, i'm talking about a movie with an actual storyline and character development. The movie is scheduled for production in Spring 2009. Paintballers all over will surely get very excited...

Here's an extract taken from 68caliber.com -

Motion Picture Principals from America and China met on the studios of Paramount to work on the first joint USA/China production, A Journey of 10,000 Miles. Now they return for a new challenge, The Paintball Kid.

The Paintball Kid, is a coming of age action/adventure epic that will be filmed in exotic locations worldwide from the US and Canada to China. Oklahoma D-Day Adventure Park, world's largest paintball field, will be
the anchor battle ground for action/stunt filming and other paintball fields are in process to be selected as well. It marks the first joint American/Chinese effort employing paintball as the theme in a major motion picture. Shanghai Film Studios will serve as the principle studio overseas while studios in Hollywood, Houston and Dallas, Texas will be used for principal photography in the US and Canada.

The Paintball game industry, serves as background for the film's story. Arrangement is currently being made to film on location at major paintball events throughout the world. The film's story occurs within the context of actual scenario and tournament games that are on-going. The Paintball Kid, is expected to draw enormous attention to one of the world's fast growing sports.

Leading and major supporting actors are being cast out of Hollywood. However, one of the leading roles and several supporting roles will be selected from real paintball players. All paintball scenario and tournament players are eligible for casting and are encouraged to follow the event broadcasts, pending announcement of casting.

NPPL go, USPL come

"By Players, For Players"

With the NPPL gone, a new league has been set up to take its place. Said to be owned by pro players themselves, the league is an aim to keep the paintball scene alive. Several measures have been taken in order to draw in more new talents and to make the game more affordable.

Below is an article i got from PaintballX3.com. Have a read...

(Huntington Beach, CA) – Sixteen Professional Teams have invested heavily in forming the US Paintball League (USPL) – your paintball league. The player-owned league is dedicated to growing the sport of paintball across the United States by offering 7-man play from Division 3 to the Professional level in addition to a division of 5-man.

Season Opener Confirmed: Huntington Beach, CA April 3 - 5 2009

The 2009 season will consist of six events held across the United States. The following teams will be competing in the 2009 Pro Division:

Chicago Legend

D.C. Arsenal

Edmonton Impact

Indianapolis Mutiny

Los Angeles Infamous

Miami Rage

Oakland Blast

O.C. Bushwackers

Phoenix United

Sacramento XSV

San Antonio X-Factor

San Diego Dynasty

San Jose Explicit

Scottsdale Elevation

St. Louis Avalanche

Tampa Bay Damage

The 16 teams have formed a five-member Board of Directors to oversee the league. The USPL has recruited some of the most experienced promoters in tournament paintball; Chuck Hendsch, Camille Lemanski and Tom Cole.

Hendsch, former president of the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) has been named Commissioner of the USPL. The Commissioner will handle executive decisions and report to the Board of Directors. Lemanski, former Vice President of Media and Marketing for Pacific Paintball, will be handling the day-to-day operations of the league as the General Manager. Tom Cole, also a former President of the NPPL, will be the Ultimate Official.

Alex Fraige of San Diego Dynasty said “although this league is owned by the pros, the mission is to make it your paintball league.”

The 16 owners have already discussed many changes to satisfy all players interested in playing the 7-man format. Rich Telford of Sacramento Excessive went on to explain that “much emphasis has been placed on catering the events toward the lower divisional teams and making the series as affordable as possible. Highlights include lowering entry fees, adjusting the schedule to reduce time away from school for younger players, streamlining the registration process to make it easier and more enjoyable for teams to check-in and walk the fields, introducing an exciting, faster-paced schedule of games and setting up a Steering Committee with representatives from all divisions so everyone’s voice can be heard.”

Individuals interested in serving as a representative on the Steering Committee should email info@uspaintballleague.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with his/her team name, division and phone number.

More details on the league and the 2009 season, including the registration opening date for Huntington Beach, will be released in the days to come. US Paintball League is a player run organization that governs Paintball tournaments and play. NXe knee pads for sale SOLD

I'm selling off my NXe knee pads.

I bought them a few weeks ago because my knees were hurting, needed knee protection desperately. They gave plenty of protection, you won't feel a thing when kneeling down on your knees. They also felt comfortable, breatheable and gave freedom of motion, but the size-L i got doesn't quite fit me. After using it once during training, my knees were hurting again, not because of sliding and diving, but because the knee pads were too tight.

Letting go at
RM100
RM80. Still in good condition, comes with original packaging. Read more about it on my previous post.

Those interested please leave a comment, and don't forget to include your contact so i can get back to you. Your privacy is assured, i will read but won't publish them.

24th January

Played a few games with the new inti guys and the regulars. All those snap shooting drills have paid off, my snapshooting is getting better. I've noticed i can do it with more ease and speed. There is, however, still one thing to correct - my stance was sometimes outside of the 'magic line' (To understand what the 'magic line' is, go watch Max's OneWithTheGun DVD). Another thing was the paint we were using was so bad, the dents on the balls made them curve left and right...swt. Banana ball is good for football but bad for paintball.

Business was also better than usual. In the morning alone there were 3 groups playing - one angmo group, one chinese teenage group, and us. There was one super move by one of the chinese. We were using My-NPL 2009 Event1 Field2. That guy ran up from the baby spike to the 50 spike, run around the 50 spike like how you would drive around a roundabout, and then ran back into the baby spike where we came from, without being shot!! OMG, that was so funny...

The field is now closed for the CNY holidays, there'll be no more pb this Sunday. We then emptied all bunkers of air and everything is flat... totally flat.

Oh, and one more thing... we got belanja-ed Seoul Garden!! Woohoo!!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Notes to self:
  • stay inside the 'magic line'
  • be careful of gaps between and under the bunkers, where opponents might see you
  • again, anticipate the opponent's next move, know their intentions! Be proactive instead of being reactive and stay there doing nothing!

The Proximity

For those that have been following my blog, you must have read my previous posts, taken place inside Inti's basement carpark.

The first one was in July, front parking, one inch...

Then there was another just 3 weeks ago, reverse parking, one inch, although not done by me...

But those two are just child's play compared to the next one.....

The ultimate reverse parking, done without reverse sensors!!

In Acronyms

These few days, there are certain matters that keep popping up in my head. Funny thing is, all of them are in acronyms... :)

First, there are the PBs, which are my current priorities. One stands for paintball, and another stands for...< insert your guess here >
(i'm not telling the whole world about my personal life ^u^)

There's the My-NPL, which will be my first major paintball tournament. Tried out the tournament's field 2 over the weekend. With the crazy snakes, this event will sure be an interesting one to watch. We will be travelling to PJ on valentine's day to take part, and perhaps skip Friday's class. Then there's RM, which I need desperately for the tournament. Hopefully I will get enough cash by 14th Feb...

There's also CNY, everyone's favourite event of the year... well at least for those unmarried. With the economic recession, angpows will be a blessing for us single people, and headache for those hitched. Hoho, angpows will probably solve my RM problem. For those of you who are really kind enough to help me out, have some CNY spirit and send me digital angpows by clicking on the 'Donate' button on the right!! Hehe... (I know no one is crazy enough to donate, but I still want to write this... It's my blog, I write whatever I want...^u^)

At college, i keep thinking about SCR. For those who are not in the electronics field, SCR stands for Silicon-Controlled Rectifier. We need to complete 2 experiments on SCRs before CNY, and I'm still gong gong about what they are and their characteristics, ish...

Lastly, there's LPC's new blog!! Hohoho, after so long, she finally started her own blog, a pictureless blog, LOL... With her blur blur and funny and bubbly and sarcastic and shopaholic nature, it'll sure be an interesting read, keep on writing!!
