First Looks - Angel Eye

ProPaintball.com recently released insider photos of the new mask by WDP, the company behind the Angel Paintball Sports brand. Called "Angel Eye", the mask is said to have two lenses, one for each eye. It will also have some sort of 'communication device' installed into the mouth piece.

But of course, none of these information can be confirmed until the actual mask is available.

My first thought when seeing the mask - "is this alien technology?".

Seriously, it looks unreal, like something from an alien movie. Everything on this mask (based on the picture, if it is real) is far from ordinary. The lens seems to extend all the way back to cover the ears. The mouth piece looks like some kind of breathing apparatus. Maybe it's because of the 'communication device', players do not have to shout anymore so they design it without any apparent venting holes on the front? Who knows. Maybe they even design the 'communication device' to make players sound like Darth Vader? HORRRR..... But is this really works, it will definitely take teamwork and communication to the next level.

The nose area also looks different. The lens is extended down to cover the nose too, with a hole in the middle of the foam to let your nose see some sunshine. With the nose breathing directly into the lens area, they must have some serious anti-fog technology.

The Angel Eye is said to debut this weekend at the USPL Surf City Open. Until then, no one knows for sure if this is the real deal. Remember the rumor about the mask that enables the wearer to see behind them?(link) Turned out to be fake.

Avatar

Another big project by James Cameron, way bigger than Titanic.

I've read mixed reviews on the internet about the movie. Some say the movie is superb, with breath-taking scenery that must be watched to believe. Others say that the story line is lame, using the same old Wealth-Is-Not-Important-But-Mother-Nature-Is formula. After watching for myself, I kind of agree with both.

First of all, the CGI is amazing, it just blows you away! I did not watch the 3D version because previous 3D movies didn't give me any good impressions, they were just so so. But for Avatar, the 2D version is already so beautiful, I wonder how will the 3D version look like. I'm thinking of watching it again in 3D after hearing people everywhere say that the movie looks so much better is 3D.

Secondly, there is a lot of creativity and imagination thrown into the movie, which is always a good thing. Movie goers are tired of seeing the same scenes and settings over and over again. Give them a never-before-seen scenery in a never-before-heard alien planet, they'll sure be too curious not to buy tickets. Throw in some 3D effect, and you'll have the ratings hitting the roof!

While everything was great, the story line was nothing new. Foreigners coming to a new land and try to dominate the primitives and control their resources, sounds familiar? (Think Pocahontas) Everything about the movie is quite memorable - the creatures, the Na'vi, the language, the robots and machinery, the scenery - Everything except the story line....

Highly recommended. If you enjoyed movies such as LOTR, you will not be disappointed. The CGI alone is enough for a reason to sit through 2 hours 40 minutes in the cinema, just don't expect to have an amazing storyline to go along with it.

Interesting fact: A new language was actually created for the Na'vi in the movie, by a professor from the University of Southern California!! (click here for the link)

Girly...

"Not 'girly' as in the feminine type, but 'girly' as in disgusting..."

Remember the bulu ayam served to us (see previous post here)? I thought that was as worse as it can get. But I was wrong.

Yesterday we were having breakfast in the cafeteria as usual, Maggie goreng. Suddenly my colleague shouted out "I got extra ingredients in my rice!!"

They fried the snail together with the Maggie!! And the most disgusting part was when we cracked open the shell, the snail's meat was still in there!! Eeww... My appetite suddenly went to zero, yet I had to finish my food, or else... motanai!!

The good part is, there's only one week left before internship ends :)

什么毛毛东西

I'm currently doing my internship. The company i work in treats their employees very well, so well that each of us get RM75 every month as food allowance at the canteen! I'm so glad we're given such nice treatment.

The food at the canteen has so many choices, we have the same 10 to 20 dishes every single day of the week! Yupe you read that right, 10 to 20 choices!! The cashiers are also very nice to us, sometimes when his/her mood is good, we'll get cheaper prices. The only downside is that we have to put up with the bad moods as well. This results in us being charged with difference prices everytime. Not a bad thing considering we still get to enjoy the 'good moods'. I really shouldn't be complaining.

That is not all. The best part is, 2 of my colleagues were given extra ingredients for their rice yesterday! Wow, I guess the canteen staffs were really in a 'good mood'. Just look at the pictures below, such delicious and mouth watering ingredients, they really work up your appetite don't they.

Chicken feather....

... and don't-know-what-animal's hair

I really cannot express my gratitude enough, to be given the chance to have my daily meal at this canteen for the next 3 months! OMG.... Thank you!!

Dead Birdies

Today's class was in the morning only, 8am to 10am. Went back to college at 1:30pm in the afternoon to get lecture notes from Dr. William.

After parking my car at the side (behind ADTP's office), i saw these...

Are they dead birds or dead chickens? They're like the size of my phone only, looked like chickens yet too small to be chickens. Where do they come from? Couldn't be from the canteen's inventory cause the canteen's on the other side of the building. Hmm... weird.

I'm guessing they're experiment materials for the biotech students...

Pierced eye glasses

"Paying ... to have someone cut your eyes and shoot a laser in them (just so you don't have to wear glasses) seems extreme to me..."
-- James Sooy --
Came across this piece of article from Body Modification Ezine (BME), a website on body piercing. They actually came up with an eye glasses that hangs from piercings on the bridge of the nose!

Don't they feel the pain? Having a piece of metal punched through the bone on their nose... I guess they're used to it.

Bizarre... but at least they'll never lose their eye glasses again...
