World Cup Asia 2008 DVD - taking orders

For the first time ever in the Paintball Asia League (PAL) series, an event DVD is going to be released. Below is quoted from the WCA thread on the Penang Paintball Sports forum.

Hi Everyone,

We will attempt to make a DVD that can potentially be of the quality of that from Europe and the USA. The DVD will be about 2-3 hour long.

We will, however, need to raise the budget to finance this endeavour. For that we will need your support to pre-order the DVD. As we will have stars and an experienced guy from Pulse TV around, we will get their advise and help to produce it. Every team that places their order with us, we guarantee you air time!!

Footages from the DVD will be used for local news/programs, You tube, ESPN Asia, and maybe even EuroSport.

Do you want it for yourself and for our sport?? Do show your support. We expect delivery of the DVD within 1.5 months after the event as we will need to work on the editing.

THE PRICE FOR THE WCA 2008 DVD IS RM 35 (USD 10) EACH. FOR TEAM PACKAGE : 7 x RM30(USD 8.60) = RM 210(USD 60)

YOUR COMPANY WILL ALSO BE A SPONSOR OF THE DVD IF YOU ORDER 50 OR MORE IN SUPPORT OF THE DVD!!! Please contact PAUL (paul@palseries.org) for your rates.

PLEASE CONTACT ALLAN (allan@palseries.org) or Catherine (catzchew@gmail.com) TO BOOK AND PAY FOR YOUR PRE-ORDER!!
THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR THE SUPPORT GUYS!!!! IT WILL BE NOTED AND APPRECIATED!!

Preorder your Cyborg RX

"Macdev all the way!!"

Macdev Australia has once again showed us their great engineering wizardry with the release of the new Cyborg RX paintball marker.

Hailed as the greatest Cyborg ever made, it comes with all the high-end features that you would expect, plus some extras. It has OLED display - as you would find on the Ego, enclosed bolt - as you would find on the Bob Long poppet valve guns, self-cleaning eyes - as you would find on the DM9. The marker is also light, weighing in at only 960g (2.12 lbs), only slightly heavier than the Ego9 (1.99lbs). With this little weight difference, no one will even notice when playing.

Apparently Macdev is not satisfied with all those great features, they decided to include some innovative extras, such as the USB upgradable board and the easy-to-remove valve. The valve of the Cyborg RX is connected to the rammer. It can be removed without tools from the back of the gun together with the rammer for easy cleaning. The marker also comes with Macdev's new barrel system, the Shift barrel.

I personally like the smooth no-nonsense milling and the covered bolt. Previously i was a little reluctant to use poppet valves, fearing that dirt might easily get into the bolt. With the new Cybrog RX, i'm definitely thinking of getting a poppet valve.

I think what Macdev is doing is great. Unlike other companies that are releasing new 'upgraded' markers every year, claiming that theirs is the greatest marker money can buy, Macdev hasn't release any new marker for the year 2008. Instead, they spent 2 years in R&D to come out with the Cyborg RX, making sure that the 'upgraded' marker really IS upgraded. This is the reason why they don't name it Cyborg 09.

The Cyborg RX will be available for shipping in the last week of November 2008. At that time, the marker will retail for $US1299. However, those who preorder with full payment now online at the official Cyborg RX minisite will be given a special price of $US1250, inclusive of delivery.

Ollie Lang Finishing Move

Saw this vid on youtube. Quite an old vid (dated back to 2006), but still a great vid showing Ollie Lang's greatness...

First Looks - Dye Rotor

This is getting exciting, with so many new products coming out on World Cup. The latest news is Dye's very own hopper - The Dye Rotor.

The company has always come out with products of unique designs, the same goes to their loader. With a feed rate of 50+ bps, no gun can outrun this baby! From the promotional poster, it says that 15 seconds is all it takes to break down the parts and clean it, tool-less. Now how much more convenient can it be...

With the release of the hopper, i believe Dye is the only brand that carries the whole range of equipments in paintball. From markers to tanks, from masks to harnesses, you name it and Dye has it.

A quick update on the Dye i4 - the promotional poster. Seems like the i4 comes stock with thermal lens, nice...

19th Oct

Realized i forgot to bring my cleats after arriving at the field, had to drive all the way back home to get it.

Didn't play much today, two My-NPL bound teams were trying out the My-NPL field2 setup. I only get to do some drills i made up my own, using cones after everyone left.

It goes like this...

"GAME ON!! and there goes the one-man blue team, running to the snake off the break, and he dives!! Playing tight on that snake tombstone... What a great shot! the guy in the dorito is out. Ohh.... there goes another one in the middle spike. What's he going to do next... a perfect slide into the second snake! That guy in the other dorito better watch out... oohh, and he's out, together with his teammate in the bumper.

Blue team makes his way up the snake... still going... still going... aaaand, he pops up, taking out the guy filling in the dorito. And now it's a one-on-one with the corner baby spike. Snap once, snap twice... and blue team is the champ!! What an exciting game..."

Actually is wasn't this perfect, did some silly dives. But hey, it doesn't hurt to visualize it that way... lol

Notes to self:
  • Learn how to play tight and snap shoot in every single bunker, still sloppy in playing low bunkers.

"Barrel Sock ON!!"

That was what i was shouting most of the day... This was my first day looking after the field, first to arrive and last to leave.

Two batches came to play today. The first was in the morning, a gang of youngsters, most of them playing for the first time. The second batch was in the evening, a group of adults playing for fun. Those guys in the second batch were using their own high-end e-markers, and they aren't even playing for tournaments! There was one limited edition PM8 Mimosa, one limited edition carbon-finish Etek2, one PM6, and another i don't recognize the model. Cannot TAHAN!!!

PM8 Mimosa. Nice...

Not much training today. Played a few games with the regulars. One of the game was actually not bad, now i know the benefits of playing crossovers, shot out one guy without him even spotting me, woohoo!! (but then i did a wrong move after that and got shot until my left arm became numbed)

Other than that was mostly running around ref-fing games. Oh, and one more thing... i superman-dived with gun i hand for the first time! And it worked out well! :0

Haven't eaten anything but a few buns the whole day, was seriously hungry. Got back home at 8 and guess what... mom made something out of the ordinary for dinner!! :)

Notes to self:
  • Do not have doubts when sliding or diving, JUST DO IT!!
  • Gun should be up as soon as possible after doing a slide or dive.
  • Tuck in arm when snap shooting.
  • Do not over-inflate the bunkers.
